Happy Halloween

Learning

I have never appliqued and was interested in learning, so Samantha and I set up a sewing date with a very talented quilter where we received a lesson in applique.
Samantha made some very cute potholders:

The seed packets were appliqued on.  It gives these potholders such dimension!

I, on the other hand, between talking, snacking, joking, laughing, and story-telling did not manage to be quite as productive.  All I accomplished was cutting up some fabric and sorting the pieces into plastic bags by color.

Even though I don't have a lot to show for my day of supposed sewing I feel as if I fulfilled my goal.  I now know how to applique, in words at least, but more importantly I spent some quality time with my best friends.  I smiled so big that the people I was with commented on it.  I shared a meal with the people I love, and I laughed so hard I nearly spewed chili out of my nose!

"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus"
Romans 3:23,24

Slow Down

Oh the weekend, how I love thee.  Yesterday was lovely.  I slept in, took two naps, finished a quilt top, made cookies with friends, and fell asleep in the living room while watching a movie.  First the quilt top; it is finished, the back is pieced, now all I have to do is get the batting and quilt it but I am totally lacking inspiration so I put it away for now and will come back to it when ideas abound.

Next, my two friends made dinner!  It was so very nice of them, I didn't even lift a finger.  They tried out a recipe from Dabbling in the Delicious called Chicken Enchilada Spaghetti.  It was lick you lips, clean your plate delish!

Onto cookies.  Samantha is an expert baker, she concocts the most beautiful and tasty desserts I have ever laid eyes on (sorry momma). Her apple pie is to die for - hint hint Samantha!  Anyway, she had mixed up the dough and the frosting ahead of time so we grabbed those cookie cutters and got to work!

Oh yeah, we had a frosting fight.  I lost.  It looks like I have mustard running down my forehead.

It made for a fantastic day and a full tummy.  It was a day of embracing fall the way I think of it; quilts to keep you warm, sewing, which is an integral part of every season, the oven warming the house, a mixture of warm yummy smells wafting out of the kitchen, lots of laughs, and wonderful friends.

Much love,

Felicity

Farm Fresh Family

Today we have a guest . . . kind of.  My family has a lot of chickens.  They are beautiful chickens that are so much fun to feed.  They follow you around every time you step outside in hopes that you give them food; and they make you feel so loved, so needed because as soon as you enter the scene 40+ animals have made you the center of attention.

Without further ado this is where you can check out K & S Erickson Farm Fresh: http://web.me.com/kpwienke/K%26S_Erickson_Farm_Fresh/Welcome.html

"Brooster the rooster watches the flock of happy hens that roam the yard in search of healthy chicken delicacies.  Collecting the eggs is a treat as the basket is filled with brown, blue, and white eggs that are enjoyed in many different ways.  Quiche is one of my favorites." -K & S Erickson Farm Fresh

My Studio

This is it.

My studio, a.k.a. my bed.

In an attempt to teach myself how to play piano for  church services on campus I have begun to practice.

The C's are marked with stars so I don't forget!

It feels wonderful to be playing music; I can't help but sing when I finally master a melody, which then ruins all of my concentration and my playing goes out the window."Come though almighty King, help us They name to sing; help us to praise" -Come, Thou Almighty King LSB 905

I am playing mostly hymns and Divine Service III out of the Lutheran Service Book.  Samantha joined me for some beautiful duets, combined with lots of giggles and an infinite amount of requests to begin 'from the top' from both of us!

It is inspiring to hear the beautiful chords and read the words which glorify the Lord. "How firm a foundation O saints of the Lord is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!" -How Firm a Foundation LSB 728

Practice makes Permanent (and sore fingers),

Felicity
